The making has taken over. Is this what craft does?-Clare Twomey

  1. Now that we have a factory in the studio is it still craft? or production of a product? Is craft about production?

What about someone who makes craft as a hobby? is it the making taking over, or is it a way to keep busy and feel useful?

  2. I think that the only intrinsic thing about craft IS the making and involvement of human hand. Regardless of being a factory worker, studio artist, hobby-person, carpenter, etc...the making will inherently take over and will provide a varying amount of reward for the maker.

Doesn't craft have to be about production?
